2003 Seville Estate Reserve Pinot
Yarra Valley Pinot versus Cabernet by Andrew Wood.
“At last a reserve wine to wrap our lips around. And doesn’t it live up to its name? This is a big, ballsy pinot with oodles of juicy beetroot, red cherry, boot leather and rhubarb notes swirling about. Unusually textural in the mouth. The glycerol-like sweet red fruit and discreet toasty oak slither over the tongue sensuously to the sappy, softly tannic finish. Lovely depth and persistence. An all-round, drop-dead-gorgeous pinot.”

"Like its pinot counterpart, the Seville Cabernet is a bruiser Rippling with power and intensity, right from the start you know this is going to be big: big nose, big palate and big finish. The red/black fruit leaps out of the glass at you. Baby smooth across the palate with acres of sweet, slurpy fruit and drying tannins that have meshed together wonderously. It’s as solid as it is deep, long as it is wide. Yet despite its muscularity and concentration, it is easy to drink. A pearler that is going to be hard to cellar because it’s so bloody delicious now."
