We have curated a special selection of wines from our cellar exclusively for our wine club members.
Our Estate wines are crafted from 100% estate grown fruit and are made on site in our winery. These elegant cool-climate varietal-focused wines are a reflection of our unique vineyard, surrounded by native flora and laden with deep mineral-rich red volcanic soils. Each release embodies the notion of terroir, painting a picture of our secluded corner of the Upper Yarra Valley with a stamp in time.
Mild season with average rainfall. A wet June/July set the growing season off on the right foot. Spring was mild, and strong winds reduced flowering. The end of the year was warm-to-hot and dry, providing lush canopies and exceptional growth. January/February were mild, pushing out our regular harvest dates by two weeks. Low yields delivered the right concentration and flavour intensity, which ultimately made 2020 a standout vintage – we just wish we had more of it!
Fruit is handpicked predominantly from one east-facing block planted in 1996. We gently pressed the whole bunches and let the juice settle overnight in tank, before gravity filling barrels with full solids. Fermentation was wild and occurred naturally in barrel. We used a range of oak formats from 300L to 2,200L 500L – all French oak with approximately 30% new. Following primary fermentation, maturation continued in barrel and on lees for 10 months, with malolactic conversion not encouraged. The wine is then racked and filtered before bottling.
Notes from July 2025 tasting.
Medium gold / flushing yellow in colour. The nose is propelled by citrus, conjuring images of lime peel, juicy yellow grapefruit, lemon myrtle and lychee. Upon return, we begin to notice juicy apricot jewelled with small red berries and lemongrass.
The palate is so crisp, lively and vibrant, it belies its age. There is a lot on show, yet still with so much promise for the future. A refreshing line of acidity fires next to a streak of salinity, delivering a wine of both power and structure with many years ahead.
95 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2023
“You know what the problem is with this wine – it vanishes too quickly in the glass. That's because it's so moreish, savoury and threaded with fantastic acidity and flavour. It's citrusy, with dashes of lemon and grapefruit, and a fine layer of creamy leesy adding some volume. A cracking wine..”
