We have curated a special selection of wines from our cellar exclusively for our wine club members.
Our Estate wines are crafted from 100% estate grown fruit and are made on site in our winery. These elegant cool-climate varietal-focused wines are a reflection of our unique vineyard, surrounded by native flora and laden with deep mineral-rich red volcanic soils. Each release embodies the notion of terroir, painting a picture of our secluded corner of the Upper Yarra Valley with a stamp in time.
A short, compressed season with excellent quality across all varieties. Warm and dry conditions led to a rapid ripening period, but solid winter and early spring rainfall meant our rich red volcanic soils were at full moisture capacity. This deep reserve sustained healthy canopy growth, providing vital shade through the hottest days and preserving the lifted perfume in the fruit.
The season began with average rainfall before an eight-week dry spell set in from mid-January. Two weeks of warm, dry weather accelerated ripening, echoing the pace and intensity of the 2016 vintage.
We gently pressed the whole bunches and let the juice settle overnight in tank, before gravity filling barrels with full solids. Fermentation was wild and occurred naturally in barrel. We used a range of oak formats from 300L to 2,200L 500L – all French oak with approximately 30% new. Following primary fermentation, maturation continued in barrel and on lees for 10 months, with malolactic conversion not encouraged. The wine is then racked and filtered before bottling.
Notes from July 2025 tasting.
Pouring a soft hay, golden-yellow colour into the glass. Aromas announce themselves delicately, with hints of camomile, melon and bergamot. As the temperature increases, more character is revealed – florals, a focus on rose and violet, next to a “sweetness” courtesy of caramel and dulce de leche.
The palate is equally elegant, remaining mineral and crisp even after its many years of rest. A pure expression of Chardonnay and our distinct Upper Yarra Valley soils. Tertiary complexity is evident, yet still with many years ahead, it is holistically balanced and lingers in the mouth for a long time with toasted almonds.
95 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2022
"Identical vinification to the Reserve, except a 2200l foudre was also used. It's balanced and effortlessly long, the flavours those of a sibling with similar DNA."
James Halliday, March 2022
